I think Monsterk7 is a very hip label right now. They released a nice compilation, they are throwing another party at Le Divan du Monde next Thursday, they are praised by La Blogothèque as being “delicious”, and they even have a blog.

Wow.

I had posted Western by I Told You Margaret (yes, Juan Juez, this blog used to be in French), because Western is a hell of a song.

Even if you don’t live in Paris, you should listen to Maison Neuve. I think they’re kinda tribal.

On Saturday night, I went to see Hold Your Horses! in concert, and I had a very good time. I think they are among the best French bands. And if you listen to them, you can’t really tell they’re French. So far, they have a two-track CD-R, and they are recording an album. Try it if you like The Arcade Fire, Wolf Parade or Architecture in Helsinki.

Hold Your Horses! plays on March 25th at the Pop In (Paris).

Top Montagne has just released Laïka Bielka Strelka, a new record with 11 tracks. You can download it for free on Les Diks qui Sautent.

With this record, I still think Top Montagne is one of the most original French bands. They use musical saw, melodica, toy piano, omnichord, sing in Italian, French, English, Russian, thus creating a unique feeling.

A review on Lost At E Minor compares A Matter Of Scale with early Velvet Underground and states it is “more optimistic than Lou Reed”.
